Mindfulness is a practice for the mind that allows us to hone our perception, clear our awareness & open our heart to fully experience this moment. Mindfulness is noticing what you are doing whilst you are doing it with kindness & care. It is a particular way of paying attention, not limited to but part of a meditation practice. The practice aims at helping you to establish a mindful way of living.
You will learn what mindfulness is, and explore how it can help you deal with stress, anxiety, negative thoughts & difficult emotional patterns in everyday life. Yoga Teacher + Reiki Master/Teacher + Meditation teacher, Cassie Zehren, will guide you through the fundamentals of practicing mindfulness techniques that you can apply immediately in daily life.

108 Sun Salutes + Meditation + Reiki for Vernal Equinox
Join our Reiki Master + Yoga Teacher, Cassie Zehren, in a meditative practice of 108 sun salutations. In this physically challenging class, you'll learn the symbolism and meaning of 108. This heat-building meditation helps us detoxify, reground, and activate our prana, or life force, as we move buried emotions out of the body and let go of what no longer serves us.
The practice of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskars) honors the change of seasons and the transitions of nature’s sun and earth energy. The Autumn Equinox is a meaningful time of year to honor the harvest. It offers a time to go within and ground before the onset of winter. Whether that be a "real" harvest of the things planted in your garden or the harvest of efforts and intentions for your life path that you set earlier in the year. Come together in celebration of abundance and gratitude!
Experience is necessary as this is a physically challenging practice.
Wear comfortable clothes and have with you a yoga mat, desired props, towel, and water.
There are no refunds or credits for any reason.

A Month of Mindfulness with CCH
The CCH Associate Board will be hosting a "Month of Mindfulness" in February, featuring a series of yoga classes taught by instructors around the country, with all proceeds benefitting CCH. Both live and pre-recorded classes are available with a number of registration options. The live classes are listed on the calendar below. You can choose to register for one, three, five, or all seven live classes, a 5-pack of pre-recorded classes through The Collective Yoga Cooperative's online yoga portal, or you can register for both (the very last option on this page)!
We would love for you to join us regardless of your ability to donate. If you are unable to donate for any reason but would like to participate, please contact Claire at csloss@chicagohomeless.org. Intro to Mudras
Join Reiki Master/Teacher and Yoga & Meditation Teacher, Cassie Zehren, to learn how Mudras can be incorporated into every part of the practice (meditation, breath, asana & relaxation) as a way of listening more deeply to our subtle energy body. We will also discuss the history of Mudra in the ancient teachings, a little bit about the hands anatomy and reflexology and how it pertains to the mudras. Mudras can support health and healing in body and mind, encouraging practitioners to release old habits and ways of being, opening up more space for balance and integration with our Divine nature.
Students will walk away with a basic understanding and experiential practice of the Mudras to support a home meditation, asana, and self-care practice.
No experience or props are needed for the workshop.
